SELMA – A 17-year-old Selma resident has been arrested after striking a person who had offered to sell them a used iPhone, according to a Selma Police press release.
A 23-year-old Selma resident arranged to sell the phone and agreed to meet the buyer in a residential area on Jan. 14.
Instead of purchasing the iPhone, the teen struck the victim in the head, causing a large laceration, and attempted to steal the phone. The victim was able to flee and contact the police.
Selma Police Department Detectives investigated and after identifying the suspect, obtained aid from the United States Marshal’s Task Force to serve a warrant at the residence of the suspect on Jan. 24. The teen was located and taken into custody without incident.
The juvenile suspect was booked at the Fresno County Juvenile Justice Center and charged with assault with a deadly weapon and attempted robbery.
