Selma man: Sheriff's investigate

Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the death of Jose Vasquez, 18, of Selma. He was found by a Fowler school bus driver on East Springfield Avenue today, Feb. 26.

SELMA – A Selma man has been found dead in the outskirts of Fowler, Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies reported today.

Jose Vasquez, 18, was found by a Fowler Unified School District bus driver around 7:15 a.m. today, Feb. 26. The bus driver was driving along East Springfield Avenue, just west of Fowler Avenue, when he noticed a body on the side of the road. 

Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the intersection of East Springfield and South Claremont Avenue. They located the deceased man who suffered from an apparent gunshot wound.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene, along with members of the Crime Scene Unit, to investigate and collect evidence.

Detectives are working to identify possible suspects and/or a vehicle. The motive behind Vasquez’ death is unknown at this point.
