Dinner fundraiser: Selma’s First Christian Church is hosting a fundraising dinner from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. May 16 only at Tahoe Joe’s Famous Steakhouse, 7006 N. Cedar Ave., Fresno, 299-9740. Tickets are $20 each. Dinners are dine in or take out and include option of steak, barbecue chicken or ribs. Meal includes green beans, mashed potatoes, choice of soup or salad. One dollar from each ticket supports Heifer International and the rest benefits church outreach missions.

Church concert series: First Christian Church is hosting a Saturday Evening Concert at 7 p.m. May 18 at 2026 Arrants St., Selma. The Tower Quartet and special guest pianist Jordan Williams will perform “Fever Dream,” and music by Beethoven and Shostakovich. No charge for concert. Free will donations accepted.

Back to Life block party: Bringing Broken Neighborhoods Back to Life hosts a free block party from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Adventist Health Hospital. Event includes free food, music, bike raffles, bounce houses. The inter-faith effort is co-sponsored by the Selma Police Department.

Relay for Life: The American Cancer Relay for Life is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. June 1 at Lincoln Park. The 12-hour event includes music, games, contests, kids’ activities, drawings, food and drink, on-site fundraisers and live performances. Playground fundraiser: A meal to raise $4,000 for a playground in the rural community of London is 3-6 p.m. June 1 at the Diane P. Hodges Community Center. 5750 Avenue 378, London, 595-0723. SELMA — A Time to Heal helps cancer survivors by educating them about proper nutrition, improving their relationships at home and helping them create everlasting friendships. KINGSBURG — The Kingsburg Swedish Village Music Kids meets the second Friday of every month. Scandinavian dances and customs and the Norwegian language are taught. The group is free and open to ages 3 to 15. Scandinavian heritage is not required. Details: 577-5531.

FRESNO — All Scandinavians by birth, ancestry or affiliation by marriage may join Norden Lodge 684, part of the Vasa Organization of America. All meetings and activities are open to Scandinavians. The word "Scandinavian" applies to Finland and Iceland, as well as Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Vasa Norden Lodge 684 meets at 7 p.m. the first Friday of the month at Trinity Lutheran Church.
