Kings Area Rural Transit (KART) has announced the start of a new bus route to help those employed on the Naval Air Station Lemoore (NASL) Operation Side (Ops) commute from their residences to work.

Route 22 began operating this month, and riders have three locations in Hanford and Lemoore to board the bus: The KART Terminal at 504 W. Seventh St. in Hanford, The Black Bear Diner at 1790 W. Lacey Blvd. in Hanford and the Lemoore Depot on E Street in Lemoore next to the Chamber of Commerce.

The bus will make multiple stops on Ops, at FRC West and Hangers 1-5.

The Department of the Navy’s Transportation Incentive Program (TIP) also provides qualified employees 30-day passes for KART, at no cost to them, in order to pay for their commute and reduce their impact on air pollution and traffic congestion

Qualified employees include active duty Navy and Marine Corps members, non-appropriated Fund employees, part-time federal employees and interns, and reservists who have been on active duty for more than 30 days. To find out more about eligibility or to sign up for TIP, visit or contact TIPS Reviewing Official Alberto Vasquez at 998-1459.

Riders must provide proof of Operations Side clearance upon boarding the bus and be ready to provide identification to Operations Side Gate gate security.
