Klair: Good Deed Award

American Legion Auxiliary’s Mary King stands with Kingsburg High’s Kirandeep Klair after awarding her the Good Deed Award from the National Children and Youth program from ALA National Headquarters.

KINGSBURG – The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 191 Kingsburg presented Kingsburg High student Kirandeep Klair with the Good Deed Award from the National Children and Youth program from ALA National Headquarters in Indianapolis.

Klair earned the award for her efforts to organize the honoring of Nisei Veterans from World War II who graduated from Kingsburg High. She was inspired by the exhibit “Courage and Compassion: Our Shared Story of the Japanese American WWII Experience” which was displayed at the Kingsburg Historical Park in February 2018.

Klair is the daughter of Satinder and Suhkdev "Buck" Klair. Kingsburg’s ALA Unit 191 Children and Youth Chairwoman Mary King presented the award May 9 at the Kingsburg Historical Depot. This award began in 2002 to recognize outstanding youth who desire to serve others within their community.
