KINGSBURG – The Kingsburg Fire Department is now recruiting for its Explorer Post 55 and any who are interested should sign up soon as interviews are scheduled for early January.

This hands-on training will prepare young adults between the ages of 14 and 18 who are interested in a career in fire and emergency medical services.

Participants will develop leadership skills, respect for firefighters and other emergency personnel and new personal skills. They’ll also learn emergency call protocols, firefighting policies, team building and the proper use of equipment.

Recruits take part in firefighting training scenarios and ambulance/EMS calls and network with professionals and other Explorers.

Firefighters involved in the training will also share first-hand advice on steps needed to prepare for an emergency and firefighting career. They’ll give information on community service opportunities and scholarships, too.

Anyone living outside of the City of Kingsburg is also eligible to participate.

Those who are interested should submit an interest card to Joey Frankmore via email at jfrankmore@gmail.com. Also, see the Kingsburg Professional Firefighters Association - Local 4291’s Facebook page and send a private message there as well.
