KINGSBURG – A Kingsburg man driving a Freightliner survived a collision without suffering any injuries in an incident that took place Nov. 7, according to a California Highway Patrol report. A Hanford man involved in the same incident however had to be airlifted to Kaweah Delta Medical Center.

Kingsburg’s John P. Strecker, 63, had stopped the 2005 Freightliner he was driving while heading east on Houston Avenue west of State Route 43. Strecker was pulling two box trailers at the time. The CHP got a call at 8:18 a.m. and found that Hanford’s Damon A. Leal, 53, had failed to stop while driving a 2006 Ford. Thus, his vehicle collided with the rear of Strecker’s trailer. Leal was airlifted to the Visalia hospital and the collision remains under investigation.

The CHP reports that alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this collision.
