Four arrested: Firearm

A photo released by the Selma Police Department shows items in the possession of four individuals arrested May 9, including a loaded firearm that had serial numbers removed.

SELMA – Four individuals were arrested May 9 after Selma Police Detectives initially received a report of shots fired near the 2000 block of Bauder Street, according to a post released on the Department’s social media page.

Officers first received a call around 5:30 p.m. and found four shell casings in the roadway in front of a home in the 2500 block of Mill Street.

Witnesses reported seeing a gray vehicle occupied by three juveniles in their late teens or early 20’s in the area.

Detectives checked city surveillance cameras and located a vehicle matching that description in the area of Mitchell and Nebraska avenues. Officers located the vehicle, conducted a traffic stop and detained four individuals.

A handgun was visible inside the vehicle. The gun was found to be loaded with one round in the chamber and one in the magazine. The gun was determined to be a 9mm with the serial number removed. The casings on Mill Street were also 9mm.

The driver and his passengers were taken into custody for various charges including possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, possession of a firearm with removed serial number, possession of a firearm by a gang member, possession of a large capacity firearm (17-round magazine), willful discharge of a firearm and participation in a criminal street gang.
