SELMA – Parents Roxanne Marshall, Charlotte Beggs and Jeannette Ontiveros started the Exceptional Sports for Youth with Needs group more than three years ago to provide sports and recreational activities for students with special needs.

They’re heading into their fourth year now and just recently hosted their annual  Easter egg hunt and lunch with a little help from some friends.

The event was at Wilson Elementary April 13 and cadets with the Selma High Marine Corps JROTC and Abraham Lincoln Middle School Leadership students shared the day with the children.

Not only did they assist with the set-up and distribution of eggs, the students and cadets then helped the special-needs children and their families find the hidden goodies.

Along with bubble making, playground swinging and a visit and pictures with the Easter Bunny, the close-knit special community enjoyed a barbecue picnic lunch under the canopy at Wilson School while making new friends and enjoying each other’s company that day.
