SELMA – It’s been seven years and the tradition of having the Selma Youth cheerleaders and Bandit cheerleaders team up for the Spirit Spectacular Show is still going strong, Selma High’s Cheer advisor Ann Fester reports.
The squads came together during the Oct. 5 Selma High football game against the Dinuba High varsity team.
The game took place Oct. 5 and there were 82 cheerleaders who donned pink bows and cheered with pink pomp oms as a show of support for the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.
To prepare for the Spirit Spectacular, the cheerleaders took part in a one-day clinic Sept. 30. The cheerleaders range in age from four to 12 years of age. The Selma High School Varsity Cheer squad and coach Priscilla Fester taught the dance material and choreography under Fester’s supervision.
“The combination of the clinic and the performance show turned out to be both exciting and fun for all the cheerleaders,” Ann Fester said. “I’m already looking forward for the next year where it will be the eighth annual half-time Spirit Spectacular Show. Thank you to the cheer advisors and parents of the Pop Warner cheerleaders for your support. Go, Bears!”
