Apply for: Discover Health Care

Students who are sophomores through seniors in high school, or freshmen and sophomores in college, may apply for Adventist Health’s two-week Discover Health Care Program. The deadline is May 31.

HANFORD – Adventist Health is accepting applications for its two-week Discover Health Care Program. The deadline to apply is May 31.

If your child has a passion to become a nurse, doctor or other important health care team member, this program allows them to receive career counseling, classroom education and experience in a hospital or clinic setting.

High school and college students are encouraged to apply for this fifth annual program by logging on to www.AHDiscoverHealthcare.com.

Adventist Health’s regional medical officer Dr. Adalberto Renteria will personally select 12 students to take part.

“We want to identify strong talent in our own communities so we can increase access to quality health care,” Dr. Renteria said. “Students who’ve attended the program in the past have gone on to pursue health care education and training with the goal of returning to the Central Valley to help Adventist Health live its mission of ‘living God’s love by inspiring health, wholeness and hope.’ I am personally looking forward to meeting individuals this year who are excited to help us carry out this mission.”

Applicants should be sophomores, juniors or seniors in high school; or freshmen or sophomores in college. All students living in the Central Valley are eligible to apply. This year, the program will be based solely in Hanford, which means all the education and counseling will be done in Hanford. For the hands-on portion, students may be placed in Adventist’s facilities closest to where they live.

Adventist Health in the Central Valley is part of Adventist Health, a faith-based, nonprofit integrated health system serving more than 80 communities on the West Coast and Hawaii. Founded on Seventh-day Adventist heritage and values, Adventist Health provides care in hospitals, clinics, home care agencies, hospice agencies and joint-venture retirement centers in both rural and urban communities.

Their compassionate and talented team of 35,000 includes associates, medical staff physicians, allied health professionals and volunteers driven in pursuit of one mission: living God’s love by inspiring health, wholeness and hope. Their goal is to transform the American healthcare experience with an innovative, yet timeless, whole-person focus on physical, mental, spiritual and social healing.
