CORCORAN — The Sierra Pacific girls basketball team closed out the season with a strong 73-26 victory over Corcoran and ended a perfect 10-0 in the East Sequoia League for the second time in school history.

The Golden Bears had four players in double figures and were led by Kalea Bush’s team-high 17 points Tuesday night. Celeste Lewis scored 15, Cristina Avila added 14 and Janae Tolbert had 13 points.

Sierra Pacific was 13-of-16 from the free throw line and the defense held the Panthers to single digits in every quarter.

The Golden Bears led 40-14 at halftime and 55-22 entering the fourth quarter in Tuesday’s blowout.

Sierra Pacific concludes another incredible season where they went 24-4, including ending the season on a 14-game winning streak.

Boys basketball

HANFORD — Sierra Pacific guards Jeremy Perry and Angelo De Lorea were honored during Senior Night and then helped lead the Golden Bears to a 61-56 victory over Corcoran.

Perry scored a team-high 21 points and got help from Jayson Littlejohn and Ari Grewal, who each scored 11 points.

Sierra Pacific (11-15, 5-5 ESL) trailed 19-7 after the first quarter and 33-22 at halftime. They turned the game around when they used a huge third quarter to outscore the Panthers 22-13 and cut the lead to two entering the fourth.

They outscored the Panthers 17-10 in the fourth and held on for the victory. It was an impressive win for the Golden Bears since the first time they played Corcoran they lost 70-56 back in January.
