HANFORD — The Hanford boys basketball took down crosstown rivals Hanford West on Tuesday as coach Brad Felder continues to close in on a historical milestone.
Besides winning 57-53 over the Huskies, the Bullpups are on a five-game winning streak and Felder is on the cusp of 500 career Central Section victories. He’s currently sitting at 498.
Bullpups forward Austin Serpa led the team with 14 points and Juaron Watts-brown and Jayshaun Collins were second on the team with 13 points each.
Collins, Brown and Ju’pri Hughes each gobbled up eight rebounds as Hanford enjoyed a 46-22 advantage in that department.
The Bullpups trailed 27-21 at the half, but used a big third quarter to take a 40-34 headed into the fourth. They held off the Huskies and improve to 14-5 overall and stay a perfect 4-0 in the WYL.
Hanford will take part in Super Saturday at the Edison Tournament on Saturday where they will face Washington Union at 11 a.m.
WOODLAKE — The Sierra Pacific boys soccer team lost to Woodlake in its first East Sequoia League game of the season.
Logan Barba and Zach Barber provided the two goals for the team, but it wasn't enough as Woodlake won 7-2.
By halftime the score was already 3-0 in favor of Woodlake.
Sierra Pacific coach Steven Soares said, in a nutshell, his team did not play well, which explained the score.
The Golden Bears have another league game against Corcoran (4-7, 0-1 ESL) today at 3:15 p.m.
