Music teacher Laurel Ridgway led the Choral Hawks in singing patriotic songs during the Nov. 9 Veterans and Marine Corp birthday celebration at Selma’s Roosevelt Elementary. Later, Selma High’s Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps cadet’s presented colors and Ret. U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Brooks Wilson encouraged the students to have an attitude of service for their country during lessons on Veterans Day. ‘The veterans feel like they’re important again for an hour. So many of them get forgotten and this gives them a chance to get out and enjoy their community.”
