TULARE - The Selma girls basketball team lost on the road in a heartbreaker to Mission Oak in a 48-46 game on Friday Dec. 15.

After the Bears took a 10-4 lead in the first quarter, Mission Oak outscored Selma 14-8 in the second period before it was a tied game at 33 through three quarters. The loss drops their record to 7-4.

The Bears had two scorers in double-digits with 19 points from Audrey Gonzalez and 16 points from Rachel Vieira.

This week, Selma will compete at a tournament in Las Vegas on Tuesday Dec. 19 through Saturday Dec. 22.

Kingsburg drops second straight

FRESNO - The Kingsburg girls basketball team couldn’t get anything going on the road, as the Vikings loss to Bullard 68-37 on Friday Dec. 15.

The loss is Kingsburg’s second straight and drops its record to 1-2.

Next up for the Vikings is a matchup against Hanford West on Wednesday Dec. 20 at a tournament hosted by Orosi high school.

Vikings win finale in Tulare

TULARE - The Kingsburg boys basketball struggled at the Tulare Holiday Classic tournament last week, but won 72-70 in their final game of the tourney against Lindsay on Saturday Dec.16.

The Vikings lost their first three games of the tourney to Tulare Western (80-32), Atascadero (66-50), and Granite Hills (60-45).

So far, the Vikings are an even 7-7 this season before facing Reedley at home in a nonleague game on Tuesday Dec. 19.

After, Kingsburg will go on the road on Friday, Dec. 22 to face El Capitan high school in Merced.

Selma boys keep it rolling

CHOWCHILLA - The Selma boys soccer team continues its strong start to the season by winning a championship at a tournament in Chowchilla on Saturday Dec. 16.

In the first round, the Bears lost 2-0 to Madera South, but won five straight and outscored their opponents 24-4 during that stretch.

Selma defeated Coalinga twice (5-2 and 7-0), Dos Palos (5-0), Hoover (4-2), and Roosevelt (3-0) in the championship game.

Overall, Selma is 9-2-3 this season and will play on the road at Sanger in a nonleague game on Wednesday Dec. 20.

Kingsburg boys struggle on the road

REEDLEY - The Kingsburg boys soccer team were shutout 5-0 by Reedley on the road on Wednesday Dec. 13.

It was the Vikings third straight game without a goal, as they’ve been outscored 11-0 during a three-game losing streak. The last time Kingsburg scored was on Dec. 8, which was a 5-1 win over Caruthers at a tournament in Fowler.

Next up for the Vikings is a road game against Tulare Union (8-1-3), which is Kingsburg’s last nonleague game before they start Central Sequoia League play against Selma on Jan. 9.
