SELMA — The Selma High boys and girls water polo teams fell to Exeter on Thursday night in Central Sequoia League matches.

The Bear boys lost 20-3 and the Selma girls were defeated 14-3.

"Both teams are pretty young, so I'm not too surprised at their performance. However, I'm still waiting for some of the kids to step up," Selma coach Harold Wood said. "We need to be more aggressive, and it's obvious that there's still a lack of confidence. Again, that will come with time. But I'd sure like it to come this year."

On the girls' side, Wood complimented the play of Brianna Colado, Audrie Naranjo and Claire Machado.

The Exeter boys led 7-1 after one quarter and 13-1 at the half. The Monarch scoring machine slowed a bit in the second half, but Exeter easily managed to hold off the Bears.

Matthew Hernandez, Joseph Delgadillo and Josh Harris scored for Selma.

The Exeter girls improved to 8-2 (1-0 in CSL play) with a dominating victory.

Exeter led 7-0 after one quarter and 12-0 at the half.

Colado led Selma with two goals and Naranjo had one.
