There was no senioritis for the Selma High volleyball team on Tuesday, Oct. 24, as the Bears took on a formidable foe.
Visiting Central Valley Christian invaded Selma on Senior Night and escaped with a hard-fought 3-1 victory. The scores were 20-25, 25-13, 30-28, 25-13.
Three-time defending state girls wrestling champ Gracie Figueroa continues to make a big impact of late, pounding 10 kills. She also had 15 in a recent match to lead the Bears to their first league triumph.
Also for the Bears, Caitlyn Hansen had 11 kills, eight digs and three blocks; Caylin Lopez chipped in with 18 assists and Genesis Rodriguez had 16 digs.
Kendall Vandertuig led the Cavaliers (17-19 overall) with 12 kills, Natalie de Jong had 11, Sadie Eisenbroek had nine kills and five blocks, Justine Bouwman five aces, Marissa Price 46 assists and Paige Calvin 22 digs.
Selma (12-15, 1-8) is on the other side of the Senior Night equation at 6 p.m. Thursday as it visits rival Kingsburg.
