xyz letters to the editor

I felt a twinge of sadness when I read the letter from Miss Chrissy Carlson announcing the closing of Young Learners Preschool. All four of my children graduated from Young Learners and two of them now have children of their own.

We, the parents, owe so much to Miss Chrissy, Mrs. Sparkman, and all the other teachers over the years who made our children's first school experience a rewarding and special introduction to learning. I remember a few tears on the first day and then oceans of smiles and laughter once they experienced the love and warmth of their dedicated teachers.

As they moved on to kindergarten their teacher told me how much they appreciated the children who attended preschool. They already knew their colors, shapes, letters and numbers. They know how to stand in line, say the pledge, and use scissors.

Schools and teachers may come and go, but the memories and the love remain forever. We parents, grandparents and students owe Miss Chrissy and all the other teachers a debt of gratitude which can never be repaid. I wish you well, Miss Chrissy, as you embark on a new chapter in your inspiring life story.
