SELMA – Matthew Martin, a Selma High freshman, won the $3,000 Meyers Farms Family Trust scholarship during Fresno Fair’s 4.0 & Above Program.

The contest was open to students in grades eighth through high school seniors with grade point averages of 4.0 or higher as of June 2017. High-achieving students were invited to attend the Big Fresno Fair for free on Opening Day Oct. 4. They were eligible to win prizes such as iPads, laptops and Visa gift cards. A 2017 Toyota Corolla was among top prizes. A total of $84,000 in scholarships was awarded.

Martin said he felt good about winning, but wasn’t expecting to do so.

“I remember at the time I was joking with my friends that at any second my name would be called. Although, I thought it wouldn’t happen.”

Kingsburg High School’s Katie Crawshaw also won a $3,000 Meyers Farms Family Trust Scholarship.
