SELMA – Selma High’s Sierra Shoemaker, a junior, was elected to serve as the vice president for the Future Farmers of America’s San Joaquin Region during National FFA Week.

“This is a huge accomplishment as Sierra was among 76 FFA members to apply, be interviewed and then elected by delegates from every chapter of our region that spans from Madera to Kern counties,” agriculture instructor Robert Calvert said.

In this office, Shoemaker will serve more than 23,000 FFA members from 72 different schools in the region, Calvert said. “She will serve as an integral part of the leadership development component of the largest student-ran organization in the country.”
