SELMA – Fresno County Sheriff deputies are investigating the questionable death of Clovis’ Douglas Erickson, 50, after his body was found in vineyard west of Selma Nov. 3, according to a sheriff’s press release.
County Crime Scene Unit investigators identified the man Nov. 6 and said the Coroner’s Office found no signs of injury. The cause of death is pending toxicology reports.
Erickson was found on the side of the road lying in the dirt by vineyard workers near Nebraska and Orange avenues around 2:30 p.m. Nov. 3. Firefighters with Cal Fire – Fresno County Fire checked on the man and found he was deceased.
Sheriff’s deputies closed off the area to allow homicide detectives to investigate and interview neighbors. An autopsy was performed Nov. 4 and investigators are now asking anyone with additional information to contact Detective Adrian Villegas at 600-8210 or Crime Stoppers at 498-7867. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
