'Nutcracker'

FRESNO - A holiday tradition in the Valley, the Thanksgiving performance of "The Nutcracker" at the William Saroyan Theatre in Fresno, hosted by The Valley Performing Arts Council, will showcase the Sacramento Ballet, along with over 100 student dancers from more than a dozen Valley cities as well as dancers from Fresno Ballet Theatre.

The role of “Fritz” will be performed by Devyn Sasai, a 12-year-old student from Kingsburg’s Rafer Johnson Junior High. Other student dancers from Kingsburg/Selma include: Mia Rodriguez, Karen Gong, Campbell Nearn, Katherine Tikkanen, Jordan Wheaton, Nicole Vasquez, Luciana Troxell, Abigail Jobe and Kayden Vissor.

Nineteen students from Central Valley Home School in Kingsburg, 10 students from Malloch Elementary, two students, Sidney Walker and Madalen Golden will represent Kings Dance Center out of Hanford and a Central Unified student out of Fresno will take part in the production.

Tickets for the Nov. 25-26, at 1 p.m., performances are available online at ValleyPerformingArtsCouncil.org, Ticketmaster.com or at the Fresno Convention Center Box Office, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Ticket prices range from $31.50 to $71.50. Ticketholders can participate in Sugar Plum Story Time and visit the Kingdom of Sweet Café and The Nutcracker Boutique starting at noon prior to both performances. The Nutcracker Tea will be held Nov. 25 at 2:45 p.m. Tickets are $25.
