SELMA – Students would like to sign up for a role in the Selma Arts Center’s “Aristocats Kids” production can register by visiting the Center in person or enrolling online.

The musical is based on Disney’s animated film and features jazzy, upbeat songs. The story is about a Paris millionairess who wills her estate to her high-society cat, Duchess, and her three kittens.

Laughs and adventure ensue as the greedy, bumbling butler pulls off the ultimate catnap caper. It’s up to alley cat Thomas O’Malley and his band of swinging jazz cats to save the day.

The cost is $50 to enroll and children from ages 6 to 16 are eligible. The fee includes a cast T-shirt, CD and script. Rehearsals are 4-6 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Center, 1935 High St. There will be six performances from Feb. 23-25.

Those not wishing to be a main character will audition in groups with the music director. For those trying out for a main character, a line read and audition will be conducted with the song, “Everybody Wants to Be a Cat” as the audition song.

Pick up registration forms from 1-6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. To register online, visit www.selmartscenter.com/youth. Space is limited and payment is due upon sign up. For additional information, contact co-director Emily Dixon, 891-2238 or email at edixon@cityofselma.com.
