FRESNO – A remodeling project at the Fresno County Main Jail is underway to improve officer safety and make the lobby compliant with the American Disabilities Act. The project is expected to be completed in April or May, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Public Information Officer Tony Botti. The remodel started on Jan. 8 on the main jail located at 1225 M St. Fresno.
During construction there will not be a waiting room or public restrooms in the lobby. The public will need to take a number and wait outside the lobby.
There will be no access for the TouchPay machines. Instead, money can be deposited to an inmate’s account through TouchPay in the north jail lobby at 1265 M St., south jail lobby at 2280 Fresno St., or online at www.touchpaydirect.com.
All general information questions about the jail and inmates should be directed to the north and south jail lobbies. The public may also call 600-8600 or visit www.fresnosheriff.org for answers to other jail-related matters.
