SELMA – Selma High’s Jeanette Garnica received her American Future Farmers of America Degree during their club’s National FFA Convention.
“Only 1 percent of the nearly 700,000 FFA members in the nation earn this honor,” agriculture teacher Grace Mendes said. “It was a great experience.”
Seven SHS students took the trip to Indianapolis and Washington D.C. and toured the nation’s Capital Building with Congressman David Valadao.
“Included in the tour was the House of Representatives and Senate floors, the Inauguration Balcony, the Lincoln Room, and many other non-tour rooms where we could not take our phones or cameras,” Mendes said. “It really was a once-in-a-lifetime trip for many of these students. Some of them are already looking forward to applying for their American Degree in two years.”
