SELMA – A national health care ratings organization has given Selma’s Adventist Health an "A" for patient safety. Their Hanford facility was ranked with a "B," according to a press release from the health care agency.

Leapfrog Group assigns letter grades from A through F to hospitals nationwide based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms.

Adventist Health Selma was one of 832 awarded an "A" for its commitment to keeping patients safe and meeting the highest safety standards in the United States.

Adventist Health Selma onsite administrator Suzette Wheeler said they’re proud of the ranking “and will continue to improve our processes to maintain the safety of our patients during each and every visit. It really takes an entire team to ensure the safety of our patients.”

Central Valley Adventist Health President Andrea Kofl said they’ve made “tremendous progress” since they started participating in the survey.

“Patient safety is our top priority and we look forward to continuing our work to provide the best care to our patients because they deserve the very best.”

Adventist Health Reedley did not have enough data to participate in the Leapfrog survey.

Developed under the guidance of a Blue Ribbon National Expert Panel, the Leapfrog hospital safety grade uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
