West Hills Community College District will be accepting applications for a vacancy on its Board of Trustees.
The vacancy is in Trustee Area 2, which encompasses part of Fresno and Madera counties.
The vacancy follows the retirement of Jack Minnite after 20 years of service as a trustee. Minnite had been a member of the board since December 1996.
Individuals interested in being considered for the position must submit a candidate application no later than noon on Aug. 7. A candidate will be appointed to the position and serve until the next governing board member election during the statewide general election in November 2018.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, a California citizen, a registered voter, a resident of the West Hills Community College District residing in Trustee Area 2, and cannot be disqualified by the laws of the state or by the Constitution from holding civil office.
The Board of Trustees will interview candidates and appoint the new board member at a meeting at 2 p.m. on Aug. 22. Candidates will be asked to provide a three-minute presentation and answer questions provided by the current board members.
