HANFORD — Sierra Pacific High School students have organized a donation drive that will take place during Friday’s football game and will benefit Hurricane Harvey relief.
Many Sierra Pacific students have been concerned about the devastation the hurricane has caused, Principal Darin Parson said, so the ASB students decided earlier this week that they wanted to help the hurricane victims by collecting donations.
“They thought the football game would be a good place,” Parson said.
In an email, ASB student Noah Frank said not only are the students collecting donations, they are asking everyone who attends the game to wear either red, white or blue clothing to show support for the nation.
Parson said donation bins will be available on site, and the school is asking for donations of money or new, packaged socks or underwear. He said everything collected will be given to the American Red Cross.
Donations will be taken at the front gate of Neighbor Bowl, 120 E Grangeville Blvd., from 5-8 p.m. The JV football game begins at 5 p.m. and the varsity football game begins at 7:30 p.m.
