Hanford police are investigating a homicide that occurred near Centennial Park Wednesday night.
About 9:35 p.m., police responded to the area of Centennial Park and Hanford-Armona Road regarding reports of shots being fired.
Police said they were directed by witnesses in the area to a silver Lincoln Navigator parked along the west curb of Bengston just north of Hanford-Armona Road.
Police discovered the vehicle was running with an man, later identified as 27-year-old Camilo Moreno Jr., slumped over in the driver’s seat. He had been shot.
Hanford police detectives are investigating the shooting, which police believe is gang related.
Police said that shortly before the call near Centennial Park, there were also reports of shots fired in the 700 block of south Phillips Street.
During that investigation, police said officers located several spent shell casings in the road and a light blue Chevrolet Venture mini-van with shattered windows.
Police are not sure if the two incidents are related.
