Vida Louise Scott Bookless

March 15, 1927-February 27, 2018

Vida Louis Scott Bookless went to be with our Lord and Savior on February 27, 2018. Born in Kellyville, Oklahoma on March 15, 1927 to Maude Ellen (Banks) Scott and John Wesley Scott, she was the seventh born in a family of eight siblings, six of which lived to adulthood. Vida was the last surviving sibling.

On January 12, 1946, Vida married Roy Edward Bookless in Albuquerque, New Mexico and together they had a son and a daughter. Her son, Steven Bookless married Carol Christensen Bookless and, her daughter, Cynthia Bookless Brightwell married Rod Brightwell. They were all her “kids,” and all survive her.

Vida's husband Roy passed away in 1988 and has patiently been waiting her arrival in Heaven. Vida lived life to the fullest, retiring as a clerk from Safeway, back when she knew all of her customers and asked them about their daily lives and families. She loved nothing more than to have her entire family over to visit at the dinner table, where no one ever left hungry.

Vida was also a loving grandmother to four grandchildren, Crystal Brightwell-Ruff (married to Chris Ruff), Steven Brightwell, Scott Bookless and Rebecca Bookless, and a doting great-grandmother to eight great grandchildren. A member of the Church of Redeemer in her later life until the time of her passing, her faith never wavered and she was a good and faithful servant. She rests now in the arms of Jesus, and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Graveside services will be held at Floral Memorial Park in Selma, California on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., with a celebration of life directly thereafter at the Church of the Redeemer located at 13542 East Nebraska Avenue, Selma, California.
