Verna Evangeline Pearson
April 16, 1922 - November 13, 2017
Verna Pearson was born in Huron, South Dakota on April 16, 1922. She moved to Dinuba at the age of 12 and continued to live there until graduating from Dinuba High School in 1940. She worked for a packing house in Dinuba until moving to Del Monte, where she met her husband, Clifton. They married on October 24, 1942, while Clifton served in the Army Air Corps. When he returned home to Kingsburg, Clifton resumed his work at Del Monte and part-time farming.
Verna worked as a homemaker until their children finished high school, then worked for the Chamber of Commerce. She was an avid member of the Tuesday Club and Kingsburg Covenant Church. She took delight in her garden and caring for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Nina Waldner; her sisters, Laura Hall and Arlene Blair; her husband, Clifton Pearson; and son Roger Pearson.
She is survived by her brother, Norman Waldner (Judy); her daughter Marilyn Mathew (Michael); her daughter-in-law Karen Pearson; her grandchildren Heather Pearson (Asif Ghazanfar), Adam Pearson, Alicia Pearson, Nathan Mathew (Joy) and Sarah Covert (Shawn); her great-grandchildren Ariella Ghazanfar, Nora Ghazanfar and Sydney Covert.
Following Verna's wishes, a graveside service was held on November 20th at Kingsburg Cemetery.
