Tamie L. Pick
July 14, 1960 - September 30, 2017
Tamie L. Pick of Hanford passed away on September 30, 2017 after her battle with Motor Neuron Disease, at the age of 57. She was born in Gardenia, Ca to Amy Hallberg and Lloyd Pick and moved to Hanford in 1980. Tamie was very involved with the community, she served on many committees, and from 1994-1998 she served on the Hanford City Council as Mayor of Hanford. Of course, her community activism started in the 80's when she started publishing political cartoons in the paper and hanging up large yard signs to protest local issues. Tamie taught Political Science at West Hills College for many years, was active with the Hanford Seniors helping them to knit or crochet and she taught art/sewing with Hanford Recreation Department various summers. She was also a member of the Tulare-Kings Garden Club.
Tamie was a strong and independent woman, who experienced so many adventures in her short life. She will be remembered for teaching us how to use tools and make house repairs, teaching us art, playing dolls, and we will never forget when she brought home her first pet chicken, Gertrude. She taught us the importance of working hard, being involved in the community and to enjoy the simple things in life
Tamie is survived by her son Jason Ericksen of Hanford and his wife Elizabeth Lohse, and their four children, Pandora, Raiden, Jezlyn, and Syreni; her daughter Melissa Griggs of Sanger and her Husband Thomas J Griggs, and their two sons Ethan and Chase. Tamie is also survived by her father Lloyd Pick of Las Vegas, two brothers, Craig and Charlie Pick and many nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 1:30-3pm at People's Funeral; 501 N Douty St, Hanford, CA with the Memorial Service following at 4 pm at The First United Methodist Church; 505 N Redington, Hanford, CA.
