July 16, 1921- February 9, 2018
Pearl (Peterson) Woodson, 96, of Hanford went to be with her Lord Friday evening, February 9, 2018. She slipped away peacefully in her sleep.
Pearl was born in Sherburn, Minnesota, July 16, 1921 to Martin Peterson and Laura (Cutshall) Peterson. Pearl was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Loyd Woodson of Hanford.
The family she leaves behind will dearly miss her. She is survived by her sister Polly Shoup, of Santa Rosa, CA; Pearl and Loyd's children, Gerald and Susan Woodson of Neshkoro, WI; Ron Woodson and Kathie Carpenter of Hanford, CA; Stan Woodson of Blue Jay, CA; Nancy Woodson of Crestline, CA; Judith and Mario Estrada of Fountain, CO; and Winter and Joe Johnson of Woodland Park, CO; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Pearl's family moved from Minnesota to California in 1923. God brought Pearl and Loyd together (on a blind date) when Loyd, a Texan, was serving in the U. S. Navy and stationed in San Diego. Pearl and Loyd were married on April 10, 1943 in Whittier, California.
After WWII, Pearl and Loyd lived in Corpus Christi, Texas for 10 years before moving back to California. They lived in Anaheim for 25 years and Blue Jay for 18 years before moving to Hanford.
Pearl and Loyd's passion for travel over the years took them back and forth from California and Texas, to the Grand Canyon, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Washington State, Hawaii and many other places.
After Loyd's retirement, Pearl and Loyd were very active in the senior center and church wherever they lived. They were very good at making and keeping friends. Dominos was their favorite pastime. In her earlier years, Pearl used to love “crafting.” Her egg shell Christmas diorama ornaments will always remind us of how special she was.
A private family memorial service will be held at the Hanford Cemetery, Hanford, California.
The Woodson family would like to give a special loving thank you to Ron Woodson and Kathie Carpenter of Hanford who have been there for Pearl and Loyd through so many events in our parent's lives over the past twelve years. Thank you so much for the love you have shown.
Family and Friends are invited to view Pearl's legacy at www.peoplesfuneralchapel.com and send condolences to the family.
