August 22, 1925 – November 25, 2017
Our Dad, Joaquin Leyva passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at home in Armona. He was born August 22, 1925 in Cubiri, Guasave, Sinaloa, Mexico. Dad was a very hardworking man, he knew he had to work very hard to provide for all his 11 children plus 6 grand kids he raised. Dad was an avid reader, he loved to read a book and tell you all about it. History was his passion. He also loved deer hunting season. He couldn't wait to go, it was the only time he took off, he did that for over 40 yrs.
Joaquin worked for 53 years with Frank Capurro & Son in Watsonville, CA. After retirement in 1999 he came to Armona. He loved to work in his garden and was always so proud of his vegetables. Dad loved his children but he was especially proud of his grandchildren. He felt so blessed to have known his 4th generation.
Joaquin leaves behind: Robert, Martha, Yolanda, Anna & Jose Arias, Yvonne, Norma & Armando Rosales, Nick & Maria Leyva, Richard & Olga Leyva, Edward, Nancy and Chuly and Eva & Carl Sumilong. Rest in peace Dad, we love you.
