Eleanor “Babe” Verboon

Eleanor “Babe” Verboon died peacefully in her sleep on November 2nd, 2017 at the age of 97 years. Babe was born on January 7, 1920 in Hanford, California, where she continued to live throughout most of her life.
Babe and John Verboon were married for 62 years and operated a family dairy before converting their ranch entirely to crop farming. When their children were young, Babe was a very active 4-H mom. She was also an avid card player and enjoyed weekly Bridge club with some of her favorite friends for many years.
Babe was the last of her generation; she was preceded in death by her husband, brother Bill Howes and sister Fern Brown. She will be dearly missed by her 3 children, Jon Verboon and wife Aggie of Visalia, Barbara Farewell of Lemoore, and Jim Verboon and wife Carole of Laton. Babe was a devoted grandmother to 6 grandchildren: Shannon Freitas and husband Henry of Charleston, NC, Aryn Jorgensen and husband Ken of Cayucos, CA, Noelle Chandler and husband Tim of Charleston, NC, Nicholas Verboon of Hanford, Melissa Taggart and husband Brent of Hanford, and Brooke Dawson and husband Matt of Hanford. Babe was a proud great-grandmother of 10.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 17th at 10:00 at Hanford Cemetery, 10500 S. 10th Avenue followed by fellowship at the Irwin Street Inn, 522 N. Irwin Street.
Remembrances may be made in Babe's honor to your charity of choice in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are under direction of People's Funeral Chapel of Hanford.
