Carrie Barbara Pereira
December 4, 1959 – November 9, 2017
Carrie Barbara Pereira, loving wife, mother, dear sister, and blessed daughter arrived home with our dear Jesus on November 9th. Carrie was 57 years old.
Carrie was born in Hanford and attended Hanford schools graduating from Hanford High 1978. Carrie lived in Visalia most of her adult life raising her three children and caring for grandchildren. During the past 6 months, Carrie resided in Hanford while assisting her late mother, Mary Sepeda.
Her jubilant laughter and continual smile will be missed dearly by all who were fortunate to cross paths. She is survived by her husband Steven, three children: Kelley Martin (Monica), Kayla Martin and Kody Martin (Taryn) and their dad, Kevin Martin, siblings: Virginia Quinn, George Sepeda, Lucy Mendoza, Anita Torres, and Nancy Alves (Rick) and seven grandchildren.
Carrie enjoyed date night dinners with her husband at their favorite restaurants, watching old comedy movies at home, walks and swim as weather permitted, special road trips, and special visits from her immediate family, especially her grandchildren. Carrie had a special love for Jesus and was always inspired by listening to her favorite Christian talk shows, David Jeremiah being number one!
Beside her passion for family, Carrie also had a passion for her work as a “Special Friend,” working with elementary age children in Visalia School District for the past 30 years. It was Carrie's warm smile and caring nature that made her a natural in helping her students grow socially. Carrie's love and concern for her school children was genuinely appreciated by her school community. She will be dearly missed.
Visitation for Carrie will be on Tuesday, November 14th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm and also Wednesday November 15th from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm. A Christian Memorial Service will begin at 3:30 pm. All visitation and service will be at Whitehurst McNamara Funeral Home, 100 W. Bush Street, Hanford. Reception to follow. Burial will be private.
