Arzie Robert Nabors
November 27, 191 – March 31, 2018
Arzie Robert Nabors- Arzie passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 5:00 AM at the age of 98 years old. Arzie was born on November 27, 1919 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Robert Payne and Johnnie Cordelia Nabors.
Kegal or Keg, as he was known, had 5 brothers and two sisters. The Nabors family came to California in the early 30's during the “Dust Bowl” from Oklahoma. They settled in the Caruthers-Fresno area.
Kegal was drafted by the United States Army into World War II August 18, 1942. He was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii on September 1, 1942 and witnessed the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. There he received the American Campaign Medal, The Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged on December 11, 1945.
At the end of the war, Kegal returned to Caruthers where he married Hazel Pauline Pate. He started a farm but left farming to work at the Naval Base in Benicia, CA in the Bay Area.
When the Naval Station closed in 1961, he moved his family to Hanford, CA and went to work at the new Naval Air Station Lemoore where he retired after 25 years of Civil Service.
Kegal was preceded in death by his wife Hazel, his brothers Ed, Bill, Bob, Dean and sisters Geneva Clayborn and Martha Gallyer.
He is survived by his brother Ronald Nabors and wife Pat (Fresno) daughter Laurel Garcia and husband Alfred (Fountain Valley, CA) daughter Jenelle Lockwood and husband Fred (Hanford) and son Russ Nabors and wife Tonia (Hanford) and 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at People's Funeral Chapel; 501 N. Douty St., Hanford and a Graveside Service on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at Grangeville Cemetery; 10428 14th Avenue, Armona, CA 93202 followed by a Memorial Service at 10:00 a.m. at Glad Tidings Church; 750 E. Grangeville Blvd., Hanford, CA 93230.
