Dash, the Kings County Sheriff’s Office K-9 who was shot on Sunday is home now and recovering with his patrol partner, deputies said.
Deputies said Dash underwent emergency surgery at Veterinary Emergency Services in Fresno to repair injuries sustained after being shot by a fleeing murder suspect in Kings County.
According to his handler, Dash is groggy but displaying “big puppy dog eyes” and is in recovery mode.
Kings County Sheriff's officials said they consider Dash a hero who “undoubtedly saved the lives of deputies and officers on scene.”
Those at the Sheriff's Office said they greatly appreciate all the public's support, including phone calls and prayers during what has been a difficult time for the Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit.
