LEMOORE — A routine traffic stop in Lemoore led to the Monday morning arrest of two alleged gang members, one of whom was armed with a loaded gun, police said.

An officer on patrol near East Cinnamon Drive and Basil Court at 2:37 a.m. noticed a BMW headed west with a broken brake light. The officer pulled the car over and spoke to the people inside: Larry Zuniga of Armona and Benjamin Moreno from Hanford.

At the time of the stop, Zuniga, 35, was on probation. The officer decided to search the vehicle and found a loaded .38-caliber revolver tucked into Moreno’s waistband, according to a news release.

Investigators ran the serial numbers on the gun and found that it had been reported stolen in Tulare.

Moreno, 25, was arrested on suspicion of having a concealed weapon, participating in a street gang, receiving stolen property and carrying a loaded weapon. He was booked into the Kings County Jail with his bail set at $110,000, records show.

Zuniga was arrested and also booked into the county jail on suspicion of violating the terms of his probation.
