LEMOORE — A young man who disappeared into a storm drain inlet on Saturday was pronounced dead five hours later when emergency crews finally extracted his body.
Lemoore city officials said the man, who was not named, went into the inlet at 9:30 p.m. and did not emerge. Emergency crews from the Lemoore Volunteer Fire Department, the Lemoore Police Department, Lemoore Public Works, Naval Air Station Lemoore Fire, Kings County Fire and the Kings County Sheriff’s Office all responded to assist with the search.
Workers finally located the body stuck in a 36-inch wide storm drain line at 2:15 a.m., about 75 feet from where the victim was last seen.
The incident remains under investigation.
