HANFORD — The Hanford City Council will meet Tuesday and discuss the petition to hold a recall election for Councilman Francisco Ramirez.
A recall petition against Ramirez garnered enough signatures to warrant a recall election, so council must accept the petition before anything goes further. After accepting the petition, council will have to decide at the next council meeting when a recall election will take place.
Council will also have a large consent calendar, with nearly 20 items. Items on the consent calendar are considered routine and will only be discussed if a request is made.
The consent calendar will include the purchase of five 2018 Chevrolet 1500 pickup trucks for the parks division in the amount of $118,270, and the purchase of five Dodge Chargers as replacement patrol cars for Hanford Police Department in the amount of $206,707.
In other business, council will discuss:
- Longfield Center and Police Department re-roofing projects.
- Recruitment and retention of volunteer firefighters.
- Allowing medical or professional offices outside of the downtown area
