Naval Health Clinic Lemoore (NHCL) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Nov. 20 to celebrate the opening of the Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) located at the east side of the facility. Many attended the event to participate in the celebration and tour the new facility.

The decision to open a UCC was the result of a thorough review of the medical needs of NHCL’s beneficiaries and to support the medical readiness of the NAS Lemoore Active Duty population.

Beneficiaries will receive a high quality patient medical care provided by a team of health care professionals in a completely renovated clinic designed to maximize safety, efficiency and comfort.

Rear Adm. Paul Pearigen, Commander Navy Medicine West, was the guest speaker for the event. He said, “Our readiness will be enhanced by the re-establishment of the UCC and it is not a substitute for primary care, but an enhancement to improve readiness.”

While the UCC is not a replacement for primary care it is a convenient option for beneficiaries with an urgent medical condition to be seen after regular clinic hours. The UCC is also a convenient option when a patient’s regular provider or primary care team is unable to offer an appointment within a suitable timeframe.

The UCC provides walk-in appointments, and is for medical conditions such as colds, sprains, flu, ear aches, sore throats, minor cuts, minor infections and burns, bumps, migraines, fever, rashes and other conditions considered acute but non-life threatening.

“Naval Health Clinic Lemoore has a proud history of serving the military community of Lemoore. Urgent Care will enable us to provide much needed after hours acute care to our beneficiaries as an adjunct to primary care. We are as excited to bring this service to you as you are to receive it,” said Capt. Kristen Atterbury, Commanding Officer, Naval Health Clinic Lemoore.

The command also provides dental care and medical administrative support to Navy, Marine Corps and international students at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), Defense Language Institute and the Center for Information Dominance in Monterey, California.
