Under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) regulations 43 CFR 10.6(c), Naval Air Station (NAS) Lemoore hereby gives notice for the repatriation of human remains and associated funerary objects inadvertently discovered during Airfield Check Pad Modernization at NAS Lemoore, California. Due to their age and context of discovery, the human remains were determined to be most likely culturally affiliated with the Santa Rosa Rancheria Tachi-Yokut Tribe. NAS Lemoore notified the Santa Rosa Rancheria Tachi-Yokut Tribe and consulted with the tribe to prepare a Comprehensive Agreement to repatriate the remains. NAS Lemoore solicits any further claims for custody of these human remains. Any person or Indian tribe with a legitimate claim that does not agree with the proposed disposition should contact the NAS Lemoore Installation Environmental Program Director at (559) 998-4078. Unless further claims are made by February 10, 2018, the remains will be turned over to the Santa Rosa Rancheria Tachi-Yokut Tribe for reburial.
