xyz letters to the editor

I think it's fair to say that most everyone has been affected by cancer at some point in their life. Whether it be personally or someone close to them. I've lost some close friends in the last few years. Most recently, I lost my sister, Teresa.

Teresa was loved by all who knew her, family, friends and co-workers. She worked as a Food Service Manager at the Kings Canyon Unified School District. She lived in Kingsburg on the same street as her dad. The two of them were very close. She had 3 children, 1 girl and 2 boys. She also had 3 grandchildren. Her battle started in February of 2010. She was diagnosed with breast cancer. Teresa went through chemo and radiation. The battle was tough, but Teresa was tougher. Teresa went into remission and everyone thought she had beat her foe.

Unfortunately, the cancer returned in 2013. She was told that she had stage 4 liver cancer. She would continue to fight her foe with few reprieves. Sadly she was taken away from all of us on March 24, 2016. Teresa lost her fight against cancer. I'm sure a lot of people would agree that we're tired of loosing our loved ones to this horrible disease.

My family and I have participated in Relay for Life for the past 7 years. We are Team Isaiah. We have done our part to raise money to combat this awful disease. Team Isaiah is having a Bingo fundraiser in memory of our sister, Teresa Lopez. It will be held at the Holy Family church hall in Kingsburg on Saturday, June 25th. The entry fee is $10 and lunch is $5. We'll also be selling tickets for 2 different raffles. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.
