Produce safety training

Safe Food Alliance conducts a produce safety training session for growers in Monterey. A similar presentation will take place in Selma on Feb. 12.

SELMA – Farmers needing to comply with Food Safety Modernization requirements for produce safety training may sign up for a Feb. 12 training at the Holiday Inn Swan Court Conference Center, 2950 Pea Soup Anderson Blvd.

The trainings are provided by a partnership between the Farm Employers Labor Service and Safe Food Alliance through a California Department of Food and Agriculture contract. Admission is $35 per attendee. Most farms are required to have at least one designated supervisor who has been trained in accordance with the Food Safety Modernization Act Produce Safety rule.

Upon completion, attendees receive an official certificate from the Association of Food and Drug officials. Other trainings take place from Jan. 16 through Feb. 20 in English and Spanish in Fresno, Madera and Tulare. Trainings are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with registration at 8 a.m.
