First Installment: Hall of Records

Property tax payers making their payments by check may use the drop box in the lobby of Room 105 at the Hall of Records, 2281 Tulare St., Fresno, from Dec. 4 through Dec. 11. There will also be a drive-through drop-off service available in parking lot from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 8 through Dec. 11.

FRESNO – The first installment of property tax payments will be late if they’re not paid by 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, Fresno County Auditor-Controller/Treasurer-Tax Collector Oscar J. Garcia said in a news release.

Garcia said that since the Dec. 10 due date falls on a Sunday, the delinquency date has been extended to Dec. 11.

A 10 percent penalty will be added to payments that are received in the office after 5 p.m. or postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service after Dec. 11.

If property owners do not receive a tax bill, they are still required to make timely payments.

Anyone who has recently acquired property should verify the taxes have been paid, Garcia said.

Tax and payment information may be obtained online at the Fresno County website at www.co.fresno.ca.us or by calling their automated phone system at 600-3482.

Payments made by check should include a tax bill stub and be made payable to Fresno County Tax Collector. Payments by mail should be sent to the Fresno County Tax Collector, P.O. Box 1192, Fresno, Calif. 93715-1192

Taxpayers are encouraged to pay by mail or to use the automated system to avoid parking problems and lines.

A drop box for check payments is available in the lobby of Room 105 at the Hall of Records, 2281 Tulare St., Fresno, from Dec. 4 through Dec. 11.

A drive-through drop-off service will also be available in the Hall of Records parking lot from Dec. 8 through Dec. 11 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for payments made by check.
