Making soup with Gleanings For the Hungry

LEMOORE - Hanford Christian School, junior high school students, took time out of their studies to volunteer at Gleanings For the Hungry's warehouse located in Dinuba on Oct. 19.

Students opened thousands of packages of dried potatoes to be used in the nutritious soup mix Gleanings assembles for shipments all over the world. Gleanings began in 1982 with the donated culled fruits that were dried and distributed. In 2000, soup mix was added to the production and in 2015, over 53 million servings of soup were produced and shipped to more than 30 different countries.
