Williams graduates from UCO

EDMOND, OK - Hanford resident Kristy Williams graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology - Human Services as a part of the fall 2017 class, which included 1,205 students from throughout Oklahoma, the country and world.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Golden 1 Credit Union Scholarships: Golden 1 Credit Union announced the continuation of its scholarship program, which will award $400,000 in scholarships to qualified applicants this year. The Golden 1 Scholarship program application period will remain open until January 18. World Ag Expo and E.M. Tharp, Inc. scholarship: The “We Believe in Growing” scholarship is two $10,000 scholarships to be given out to students planning to attend a four-year university to major in an agricultural field, disbursed over four years at $2,500 a year. High school seniors from Kings, Tulare, Fresno, Madera and Kern counties are eligible to apply. The students must submit their applications by Jan. 19. PG&E Scholarship: Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) are accepting scholarship applications for college-bound high schoolers as well as current college and continuing students living in Northern and Central California. More than 200 awards totaling nearly $700,000 are being made available through PG&E Scholarships, which includes the Better Together STEM Scholarship and employee resource group (ERG) scholarship programs. PG&E Scholarships information, including criteria and applications, is available at http://bit.ly/2nUk360. To be considered for a scholarship, all applications must be submitted by Feb. 5.

Cabrillo Club: The Cabrillo Clubs of California is offering $500 scholarships to high school senior students. To qualify, a student must be of Portuguese descent have a GPA of 3.5 or better all four years of high school and be involved in extracurricular activities. Scholarship applications are available by clicking the scholarship link at www.cabrillocivicclubs.org. Applications must be postmarked by March 14 and submitted with transcripts and three letters of recommendation to: Breck Austin, State Scholarship Chairman, 472 Paradise View Dr., Vista, CA 92083.

Audrey Liebold Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship, being offered by The Kings Players, was established to honor one of the Kings Player’s founders and greatest advocates, Audrey Leibold. Eligible students must be a graduating high school senior and intend to pursue a career and or make a contribution in the field of the Performing Arts. All applications are due by April 1. Hanford Garden Club Scholarship: Hanford Garden Club is offering scholarships to graduating seniors from schools in Kings County in the amount of $500 each. Students must be planning a career related to the objectives of the Hanford Garden Club. This may include; botany conservation, entomology, floriculture, forestry, horticulture, landscape architecture, plant biology and/or plant genetics, urban planning, agriculture or research in allied fields. Consideration will be given to grades, extracurricular activities, and financial need. School transcript is required, along with three letters of recommendation which discuss scholastic ability, personal character, and work related experiences of applicant [each letter limited to one page].
