Notice of Indian Education Council meetings

LEMOORE - The Central Union School District makes various opportunities available for parents to provide their views on the educational programs and activities, including recommendations on the needs of their children and on how the District may help those children realize the benefits of the educational programs and activities.

Each year an Indian Education Council (IEC) of Central Union Elementary School District provides an opportunity for the Tachi -Yokut Tribe and parents of  Native American children to meet. This council schedules a minimum of seven meetings during the school calendar year, Sept. 19, Oct. 17, Nov. 14 and Feb. 20, March 20, April 17 and May 15 of 2018. Each meeting begins at noon at the Santa Rosa Rancheria Educational Center. Meeting dates are subject to change, updates are posted on school and District website one week prior to meeting dates. CASE in search of host families

Cultural Academic Student Exchange (CASE) is currently looking for volunteer Host Families to host International students participating in the second semester program.

Nearly 200 students who participate in the CASE program have their own spending money, attend your local high school in order to learn more about the American cultures, make friends, participate in sports, student activities, volunteer in the local community and most of all - become a lasting member of your community. Constitution Week conference - Reedley: Sept. 21, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Sept. 22, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., Reedley College, 995 N. Reed Ave., Reedley. The goal of the conference is to broaden the average citizen's understanding of the Constitution, rights and duties. Over the course of two days 20 speakers including state assemblymen, federal judges, district attorneys, law enforcement officials, and David Webb, host of the David Webb Show on SiriusXM Patriot125, Fox News Contributor, Columnist for The Hill, and Breitbart News contributor will share their expertise and reflections on the Constitution. Immigration Conference - Visalia: Sept. 23, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., College of the Sequoias, 915 S. Mooney Blvd., Visalia. College of the Sequoias’ Puente Project, a transfer-readiness program for historically underrepresented students at colleges, is collaborating with various community organizations to host and co-sponsor an Immigration Conference. Christian College fair in Fresno: Sept. 19, 6-8 p.m., Hope Lutheran Church, 364 E. Barstow Ave., Fresno. The National Christian College Fair will be hosting an event on The event will have information booths for over 30 Christian Colleges, including: Fresno Pacific University, Biola, Westmont, Azusa Pacific and more. This is a free event, parents are welcome to attend.

MIQ Fall Festival - Lemoore: Oct. 1, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., MIQ School, 884 N. Lemoore Ave., Lemoore. Mary Immaculate Queen School is hosting their annual Fall Festival is the school's biggest fundraiser of the year. Carnival style games, food and sweet shop. This event is open to the public.
