Playoff time

Three teams from Kings County will be participating in the Central Section playoffs, starting Friday. The roads these teams have gone down to get to this point, couldn’t be farther away from one another.
In Division III, Hanford will host Golden Valley (Bakersfield) after going 6-4 and contending for the West Yosemite League title while Hanford West will go on the road to take on Ridgeview (Bakersfield) after finishing 3-7 after starting the season 2-0 before losing six straight.
Game time is 7 p.m. for both schools.
Meanwhile, in Division V, Corcoran again is the top seed but looking for different results after finishing second to Bakersfield Christian last season.
The Panthers have a first round bye before hosting the winner of Mission Prep and Bakersfield Christian.
Hanford, the No. 5 seed, takes on No. 12 Golden Valley at Neighbor Bowl.
The Bulldogs finished the regular season 3-7, finishing sixth in the Southeast Yosemite League will a league record of 1-6.
Hanford and Golden Valley had one common opponent in the regular season, El Diamante.
The Bullpups lost to the Miners 48-20 while Golden Valley lost 50-20.
For Golden Valley, quarterback Derek Martin averages 112 yards per game and has thrown seven touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Manuel Vargas is the leading rusher for the Bulldogs with 580 yards and three touchdowns.
Receiver Daryn Johnson leads the team with 43 catches for 645 yards. He’s also scored three touchdowns.
Aramando Munigia has added 32 catches for 445 yards and six touchdowns.
Jordan Gruber anchors the defense with 81 tackles.
Hanford comes after defeating Lemoore 20-14 in a game that went to the final play.
The Bullpups have had success lately running the ball.
Hanford now has three different running backs with over 500 yards rushing on the season in Connor West (510 yards, 4 touchdowns), Dijon Foster (513 yards, 3 touchdowns) and Jared Loewen (504 yards, 9 touchdowns).
Cannon Sanchez has also thrown 11 touchdowns against just three interceptions and has thrown for an average of 160 per game.
In the other game Friday, No. 11 Hanford West visits No. 6 Ridgeview, which finished 5-5 in the regular season and tied for fifth place in the Southwest Yosemite League.
“We feel confident,” said Huskies head coach Daryl Back. “Ridgeview has some good athletes. They have a quarterback and running back that we’ll need to stop to be successful.”
That quarterback is Tyler Dogins, who finished the regular season by throwing for four touchdowns against North (Baskersfield).
He’s averaged 132 yards passing per game and is also the team’s rushing leader with 632 yards and nine touchdowns.
